What do you get when you ask for a haircut?

I ask my hairstylist for a clean cut all the way around, cutting about 2 inches off. Because I’ve been back and forth between bangs, I either get them re-cut to have the bangs back or I just let them slightly trim the bangs if I am growing them out, just to get rid of the dead ends. I’ll ask to add subtle layers for a little more texture.

How often do you get your hair colored?

I get my hair colored about two times a year- way longer than the average! I do this because I really like to give my hair a rest in between colors and not put so much dye in it. I have never really had a “set” hair color, as I love to switch it up with the season. I typically shoot for burgundy during the fall, a darker brown or black winter/ spring and then blonde balayage in the summer. This is where i find myself in a rut becaus the blonde never really pulls through due to the previous coloring and harsh red pigments. I haven’t dyed my hair burgundy/red since about two years ago now, so only the bottom half of my hair has red pigments in it. I’ve been contemplating letting all the color grow out and getting a nice chop to stick with my natural color or go back to the burgundy.

What is your favorite shampoo & conditioner?

For daily use I love either Pantene shampoo or Aussie conditioner, but most of the time I use the Mane N Tail shampoo and conditioner because it really adds growth and volume!

How often do you wash your hair?

I like to wash and condition my hair every other day. I used to wash every day but because my hair was not healthy looking, I switched to every other day about 2 years ago. Ever since I changed up this routine, my hair has been growing and more vibrant! In between washes, I use dry shampoo to cover up my roots if they start to get oily.

What is your natural hair color?

My natural hair color is a dark brown; if you see my roots that is my exact color. I have been dying my hair since I was very young, hence why it has always been so difficult for me to get my hair back to a healthy state, which I finally feel like I am doing. I have taken some time off from my dyeing my hair- it has been about a year because I really felt I needed to give my hair the rest it deserves.

How do you get loose waves instead of tight curls?

For my everyday go-to natural curl look, I use a wand with no clip to create soft waves! I start in sections, working my way from top to bottom for a total of 3 sections. I then brush them out, and add some texture spray & hairspray for volume/texture.
