DIY MATCHSTICK BOTTLE

Candles are my absolute favorite – I have one lit when I am home (most of the time) because they give off the coziest vibes! I usually use a long reach lighter, but they either go missing or it’s never conveniently next to the candle and tucked away in the cabinet (because my OCD kicks in and unless it’s cute I can’t have it sitting on the table- whoops). This adorable matchstick bottle idea stemmed from one I have seen at Anthropologie (which I actually just noticed is now sold out). My mom and I went shopping and I saw it in store, immediately knew I wanted one and my mom of course convinced me not to spend $10 on a small, measly bottle when we could make our own. My mom is super crafty and has the best ideas, so I get a lot of inspiration from her. We ran over to Michael’s and got this bottle for about $1 (maybe less). I’m sure if you head over there, you can find so many different styles. I liked this one because it was simple, yet cute. My mom got the matchbox from the dollar store.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

HOW TO:

  • It is so simple, you can do this with your eyes closed! Plug in the glue gun to warm it up and insert a glue stick. I would recommend putting something down to lean it on; even a paper plate would be fine.
  • Carefully cut both strike strips (I think that’s what it’s called) off of the matchbox.
  • Choose where you want to glue on the strips – I chose to keep it centered.
